The event, organized by the Bill Gates Foundation, coincided with the 156th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi. Indian culture, art, and cuisine were showcased. Gates said, "It is crucial that we gather on Mahatma Gandhi's birthday. The ideals for which Gandhiji fought—equality and dignity for every person—are the foundation of our work."
